Affiliate disclosure

How this site makes money, in plain language, including what it does not do.

Last updated: October 13, 2026

As an Amazon Associate, Spur & Stitch earns from qualifying purchases.

Spur & Stitch is reader-funded. Many of the product links on this site are affiliate links, which means that if you click one and then buy something, the retailer pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra - the price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone to the retailer directly.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a product page that carries a tag identifying this site. If you buy after clicking it, the retailer attributes the sale to us and pays a percentage. We have no involvement in the transaction itself: we do not sell anything, we do not hold stock, we do not handle your payment and we never see your personal details.

How our links work

Product links on this site pass through a redirect on our own domain before they reach the retailer. That exists for one practical reason: it means the retailer behind any product is a configuration setting rather than something written into the article, so if a product moves or a better retailer becomes available we can change it without rewriting the page. Those redirect pages are marked no-index and are blocked in our robots.txt, so they are not search results and they are not tracking you across the web.

What commission does not affect

  • Which products we recommend. Picks are chosen by matching products to buyers, not by commission rate.
  • The order picks appear in. We order by which buyer a product suits, never by what pays most.
  • What we say about a product. Every pick on this site carries an explicit 'what you give up' line.
  • Whether we mention a competitor we earn nothing on. Tecovas and Lucchese sell direct and pay us nothing; they are in our brand guides anyway, labeled as such.

What we do not do

  • We do not take payment for placement. No brand has ever paid to appear on this site or to be ranked higher on it.
  • We do not publish sponsored posts.
  • We are not sent free products, and we do not accept them.
  • We do not publish prices or claim savings. Prices change constantly, so every product links to its live listing instead - see our methodology.
  • We do not claim to have tested or worn the products we write about. We say so on every roundup and comparison.

Which programs we are part of

Spur & Stitch is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. At the time of writing, Amazon is the only affiliate program this site earns from. If that changes, this page will be updated before any new links go live.

Where you will see this disclosed

A short disclosure line appears above the first affiliate link on every page that has one - not only here in the footer. Each buy button also carries an #ad marker and a link back to this page. That is more than the minimum, and it is deliberate.

Questions
