Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Spur & Stitch collects when you visit, why, and what we do with it. It applies to spurandstitch.com. If you have a question about anything here, email contact@spurandstitch.com.

What we collect

• Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used - which pages are read, roughly where visitors are in the world, what kind of device they are on, and which links get clicked. This data is aggregated and we cannot identify an individual from it.
• Information you send us. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else.
• Standard server logs. Our hosting provider records technical information such as IP addresses and request times, as part of operating and securing the site.

What we do not collect

• We do not ask for or store payment details. Nothing is sold on this site.
• We do not run a newsletter or mailing list, so there is no subscriber database.
• We do not sell, rent or trade any information about you to anybody.
• We do not create user accounts or profiles.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish between visits and sessions. Those are the only non-essential cookies this site itself sets. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site works normally without them. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal or you use an ad blocker, analytics will simply not load.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one you pass through a redirect on our own domain and then go to the retailer - usually Amazon. From that point, the retailer's own privacy policy and cookies apply, and the retailer may set a cookie that records that you arrived from here so a purchase can be attributed to us.

We see none of the detail of what you do at the retailer. We receive aggregate reporting - how many clicks and how many orders - with no personal information attached. Full detail on how the links work is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Third parties that may receive data

• Google (Analytics) - aggregate usage data, per Google's privacy policy.
• Our hosting provider - standard server logs, as part of serving the site.
• Microsoft (email delivery) - the contents of a contact form submission, in order to deliver it to us.
• Amazon and other retailers - only once you click through to them, and governed by their own policies.

How long we keep things

Contact form messages are kept for as long as they are useful for correspondence and record-keeping, and deleted when they are not. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is a contact form message you sent us. Email contact@spurandstitch.com and we will deal with it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be described rather than slipped in.
